František Raboň was content with his return to racing at the Eneco Tour. Above all, he was pleased with his performance in the time trial before the World Championships.
“I got back to racing at the Eneco Tour after two months off. Having not raced for a long time I was unsure whether I would be able to keep up. Although I´d done a lot of preparation for the race I still lacked the racing rhythm compared to those riders who participated in the Tour,” Franky said.
Everything went as smoothly as possible and he had good legs. “I was capable of following the pace and I tried to get into a breakaway but unfortunately, I was out of luck.” His big goal was the 15-km time trial. “I pulled off a great time trial, I caught two riders starting before me and I was setting the best time at one point. But then I took risks with 1 km to go as I jumped over a roundabout and had a flat tire. Within 20 seconds I was back on the road on my replacement bike but sadly, those twenty seconds I lost was the gap between 2nd and 21st place."
The second position would have been a big morale boost for him. “Despite that, I´m quite happy because I know that I´m back in shape and now I´m building up for the Worlds time trial that takes place in four weeks. Since our squad is disbanding at the end of the year some races have been cancelled, which enables me to focus solely on the Worlds. The time trial is going to be my second highlight of this season,” František Raboň added.
